As the sun rises over the Mount Hood National Forest, I, Ajit Suraj, hiked up the challenging Mirror Lake Trail, braving the early morning chill and snowshoeing up a steep incline. The reward was a breathtaking view from the summit of Illumination Rock, with the Timberline Lodge, including the iconic Storman Norman and Palmer lifts, also the historic Silcox Hut, serving as a stunning backdrop. The sight of the first light hitting the summit of Illumination Rock, causing the snow to dance and sparkle, is a moment I will never forget.
