Overview

"As a photographer, I'm always on the hunt for unique and interesting subjects to capture. When I heard about the Airplane Home in Oregon, I knew I had to see it for myself. This home, located just 40 minutes outside of Portland, is a converted Boeing 727 in the middle of the woods. Its owner, Bruce Campbell, a former engineer and pilot, has been living in the airplane for over 20 years and opens it up to the public for tours.

I decided to capture this iconic structure from above with a drone during a snowstorm in 2020. Despite the weather apps indicating light rain, I made the drive out to the airplane home, determined to get my shot. While driving out my thoughts were a bit chaotic, with the snow and the rain, but I finally arrived and was able to fly my drone just between the showers, as the weather was changing rapidly. The final result was worth the effort, with the drone capturing a stunning birds eye view of this unique and unconventional home.

This photo is a testament to the power of imagination and the courage to pursue unconventional dreams. I was inspired by Bruce's spirit and the beauty of this airplane home, and I'm thrilled to have captured it for others to enjoy."
